Welcome to the Association of Charity Independent Examiners

ACIE is an association of people who carry out IE, providing support and information to its members, charities and other interested parties. Since its launch in 1999, it has also become a national voice in influencing policies with regard to government legislation. Its activities have the support of the Charity Commission and the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator.

ACIE is the only professional body whose sole focus is Independent Examination and its Full Membership procedure is the only route available to people wanting to have their work in Independent Examination scrutinised and validated.

At April 2016, ACIE had over 500 members, of whom over 150 were Full Members. These members cut across the whole range of people who carry out independent examination - from volunteers who are competent enough to examine the accounts of, say, their local youth group, to professional accountants in major national firms.

Charity Commission launches updated guidance for independent examiners:

ACIE Scottish Conference 2017: Adding Value to practice

This years Scottish conference will consist of a range of expert speakers addressing the issues that matter to those who independently examine charity accounts.

The event will be returning to Perth, and will be relevant to accountants in practice who have charity clients, to the TSI network and community accountants, to church and charity finance staff, to treasurers and trustees, and to voluntary independent examiners.
