An Introduction to Charity Accounting and Independent Examination in England & Wales

Everything you ever wanted to know about Charity Accounting and IE but were afraid to ask!

Join us for a two day course to take you through the principles, theory and practice of doing Charity Accounts and IE.

This training is suited to anyone who wants to understand the basics of charity accounting, whether you work with accounts and finance or whether you are a trustee or treasurer.

We will also introduce you to the basics of Independent Examination as well as updating you on the implications of the new Directions issued by the Charity Commission earlier this year.

This training will be relevant if you are thinking of becoming an Examiner or if you have been ask to Examine but felt unsure about doing so. We anticipate that trustees will also find the training invaluable in preparing for an IE and helping them select an Examiner.

Day 1: Introducing charity accounts and their contents. Participants will get the chance to scrutinise real life examples, identifying instances of good practice and areas  for improvement.

Day 2: IE ‘beginners guide’ looking at the Directions, matters of material significance and the  IE checklist. Participants will again get the chance to look at real life examples and understanding what makes for a 'good' IE.
